Looking for an easy card or craft to have your niños prepare for their papá this year for El Día del Padre? My criteria when looking for ideas is that it has to be something my toddler can actually take part in making, it’s not a project that’s too demanding of me, and it doesn’t involve me having to make a special trip to the store but rather uses materials I already have in our craft bins. Have multiple kids, provide child care or lead a Sunday School class? Then this post is perfect because I’m sharing over 30 crafty cards you can have your children prepare for El Día del Padre coming up on June 18th (always the third Sunday in June).

1. Hand painted Papá card/sign

Materials:

  • paper (I used cardstock)
  • masking tape or washi tape (thin is better or you can cut it as I had to)
  • scissors or craft knife
  • paint (watercolors or squeezabale paint bottles)

Step 1: Cut the tape in equal length strips for the height of the letters. Cut smaller pieces to finish the letters.

Step 2: Form the letters on the page out of the tape. Run your finger over the tape to seal it well.

Step 3: Paint over the entire page with either watercolors or squirt paints on and smear them with hands for a fun sensory experience.

Step 4: Wait until the paint dries and carefully peel the tape off. Papá will love it!

This idea was modified from The Beautiful Project.

2. Shirt card

Materials:

Step 1: Print out my template on colored paper. Cut along the solid lines and fold along the dotted lines. Fold the triangle pieces down towards you.

Step 2: Glue down triangles which are the shirt’s collar. Glue bow tie on top.

Step 3: Glue 3-4 cheerios to serve as buttons. Have a few extra on hand to keep your toddler from eating these. 🙂

Step 4: Decorate inside and outside as you wish. Inside you could write “Felíz dia del padre, Papá”.

3. Papá sticker card

Materials:

Step 1: Print out my card template.

Step 2: Have your child fill in the letters with stickers of choice that fit in the space of the letters of PAPA. It’s that easy! You could always just color it if there are no stickers on hand, but stickers are good for developing the pincer grip.

4. Un gran abrazo card

Materials:

  • my free card template
  • paper (I used cardstock)
  • non-toxic paint
  • paintbrush
  • wipes for cleaning child’s hands
  • ribbon or sticker

Step 1: Print off my card template. I used cardstock so that the paper didn’t warp from wet paint.

Step 2: Cover one of your child’s hands with paint by painting it on. Push down his/her hand on the side of the paper where it will show the thumb being up as the child on the card has his/her arms stretched open and thumbs would be up.

Step 3: Clean that hand. Repeat with the other hand to complete the child on the card.

Step 4: After drying, fold the card by bringing the sides in until they meet together. Keep the card closed by wrapping it in a ribbon or sealing it with a sticker.

7. Scratch off Card

This fun handmade scratch off card is a great option with elementary age students. Be creative and find out what Papá will win for his prize! Follow the steps to complete this card and grab the free templates by heading over to the site Baballa.com.

8. Bible Verses

Praying God’s truths over the father of your children is very powerful. Your children could just as much include a Bible verse in their card to their father, but you could give him one as well. I’ve included some for you to share.

Even though we only have one child, my husband isn’t getting just one card this year! How about you? Which ones will you try? Leave me a comment below about which one you had your kiddo try or post a picture on my Facebook page.
