Finding the best bilingual and Spanish board books can be tricky. Sometimes translation isn’t always done well, or the quality of the book is poor and has lousy illustrations. I’ve seen quite a few unfortunately. 🙁 So how do I know that these are the BEST? Because I own nearly every single one of these or another one of the author’s titles. I wouldn’t tell you that they were great if we didn’t enjoy them here in nuestra casa.

But, what is a board book you ask? They are the perfect books for babies ages 1-3 because the cover including all of the pages are hard and sturdy. The pages don’t get damaged due to grabby toddler fists, and they can be wiped off.

I received many of these as baby shower gifts since I asked for books in place of cards. The price is nearly the same these days, and these books will have a more lasting impact on my child’s language development.

I WISH I would have had this list before my baby was born as it would have saved me HOURS of searching. Be sure to share with someone who might be in need. Or if that person is you, save this entire webpage to your baby registry like https://www.babylist.com/ and in the comment section ask your buyers to buy through my website page.

I’m breaking down this list into two parts for you: bilingual board books and only Spanish board books. Click on the pictures and additional links provided to take you to where you can buy the books.

Priddy Books / Bright Baby Series

This one is an absolute winner that my toddler still loves!

I love that the images are real photographs allowing your baby to make strong associations with what the object is in real-life. This is harder to do with illustrations.

Also, check out this version that has flaps to flip up! Even more fun! https://amzn.to/3dHxKhl

Priddy books has multiple simple books like this one made up of beautiful simple photographs.

And since they’re so wonderful, we have nearly all of them except this one on Trucks/Camiones. It also looks like a keeper though. Check it out: https://amzn.to/3fRA1JF

Other Bilingual Board Book Favorites

Babies love looking at other babies and each of these babies is uniquely dressed to represent their country’s culture. The message of this book is simple and sweet and brings awareness to your child about other countries and cultures.

Eric Carle is an amazing children’s author and illustrator. His bilingual books capture his touch of creativity just as well.

Check out Eric Carle’s other bilingual titles that are on my wish list.

Colorful sponge stamped illustrations decorate this beautifully messaged book about friendship.

You won’t be able to read this book and not sing it! Plus you’ll be teaching your little one body parts!

This one is equally fun and will keep you two singing and moving around! A great one for following commands.

I promise you won’t be able to read this book and not kiss your baby. This is a super Spanish friendly book for even the non-Spanish speaker. There is a bilingual glossary in the back to teach the reader what baby kisses.

This is by far one of our favorites as well. Why? Because it offers so much opportunity for intearction. As the crocodile snaps his mouth shut page after page, I have my daughter clap her hands shut imitating it. We also count the monkeys on each page.

This classic is so fun and can almost be sung along to. My daughter taps her head each time a monkey falls y se golpea la cabeza.

We are on our second copy of this book because my daughter has worn out the puzzle pieces of this shape book already! It’s truly a favorite in our home.

Walk through the morning routine with this bilingual read. Your child will love looking at real photographs of other babies in their element.

Indestructibles

These indestructible books are just that. Although they aren’t board books, they instead can twist, be squeezed, don’t rip or tear, be cleaned and get wet! I don’t have these particular books, but I wish I did! Plus, they look too good not to share. So buy these for yourself or another Spanglish mama!

These colorful pages are arranged by what color foods baby would eat. Example, all of the foods that are rojo.

Greet all of the farm animals with your little one. Hola vacas!

You’ll be kissing, hugging, and snuggling your baby throughout this whole book as you imitate how you can show a baby you love him/her!

Spanish Board Books

Some of the following books are Spanish translations of their English counterparts. Consider buying both versions to complement your library if you would like to offer them as bilingual reads.

While there are a few hardcover Spanish toddler Bibles, THIS ONE is one of the best Spanish board book Bibles in my opinion. It has warm illustrations and simple but true-to-their-message Bible stories. I’m so glad we were gifted this treasure at my baby shower.

Such a sweet book filled with rhymes and adorable illustrations that should be part of your bedtime routine reminding your sweet one how much they are loved by God.

Veo Veo Series

Our family absolutely adores the following series. Each book is able to capture the truth of the Biblical story but keep it simple for young children to understand and hold their attention. The text of the story is in Spanish while each page has around 10 objects to search for from the illustrations. Each object is labeled in Spanish and English.

This book is perfect for the Lent season, an Easter basket, or to enjoy all year long!

Conoce a Jesús is also a great one as it tells more about Jesus’ life story and reinforces His message of salvation. https://amzn.to/39NdNVx

The classic story of David and Goliath becomes an interactive read while finding the objects.

This interactive colorful book brings alive the story of Jesus book. I bought this one not as a Christmas gift but instead to have to read leading up to Christmas.

Eric Carle Series of Spanish Board Books

Eric Carle is a very talented well-known children’s author and illustrator. The following books also have English versions available.

In this fun touch and feel book, learn about different farm animals, the sounds they make and the activities they do as the busy spider builds her web.

This classic is equally fun in both languages. Your child will learn about foods, numbers, days of the week, and the life cycle of this starving caterpillar.

PLUS: I just have to share these bilingual learning cards that MUST be bought to accompany this book. They are definitely more for preschool age but are perfect to use to build off of this familiar book they’ve been reading repeatedly up until then! https://amzn.to/3fJD9Y5

Like all Eric Carle books, Oso Pardo also does a great job of using repetition which builds your child towards becoming an independent reader.

These Eric Carle Spanish titles are also on my shopping list, so check these out as well:

Other Spanish Board Book Favorites

Flip the flap books are always a hit with children and this one teaches about body parts.

The author Karen Katz also offers these titles as well:

¿Dónde está el regalito navideño de Bebé? (Where Is Baby’s Christmas Present?) https://amzn.to/3cUc4iR

Your little one will love reading and interacting with you as wiggle the cute elephant puppet.

This well known baby book is a must have for your shelf. It’s just as sweet in Spanish as in English.

A great book about getting ready for bed that rhymes. It’s also available in English.

Every child needs a touch and feel book that has sounds as well! This fun one teaches each animal’s noise as they press on the animal’s body.

All kids love animals and teaching about them helps them begin to categorize things. This book is the best one I’ve found that teaches what each animal says in Spanish and the vocabulary for how they say it. Example “La forma en que hablo se llama relinchar.”

Azul teaches about lending a hand and friendship as well as animals and their sounds. My child enjoys imitating each animal and Azul. Pii-pii-pii!
